Where should I apply to purchase a handgun?
You can obtain a firearm purchase permit by applying to your local provincial police department or provincial gendarmerie command.
Once the handgun purchase permit is issued, within what timeframe must I complete the purchase?
The firearm purchase permit is valid for 6 months.
Why can't we buy the pistol from the factory?
In accordance with laws and regulations, firearm sales are conducted under state control exclusively by MKE (Mechanical and Chemical Industry). You may purchase them from the sales offices in Istanbul and Ankara.
Can I have someone else purchase a handgun for me?
The holder of the purchase document is required to be present for the firearm purchase transaction.
Can I try the pistol before buying it?
You can examine the pistols at our stands. You can visit dedicated shooting ranges to fire them.
What is the warranty period for your pistols?
Our pistols come with a 2-year warranty.
Can I purchase another firearm using the license for the pistol I previously owned?
You cannot purchase a second pistol using your current pistol license. You must obtain a separate purchase permit for each pistol you wish to buy.
Can I exchange the pistol for another model?
The model and serial number of the firearm acquired under your license have been entered into the license and registered in your name across all records; therefore, they cannot be changed.
Documents required for a possession permit
a) Petition,
b) 4 photographs taken within the last year,
c) Firearm license application form,
d) Medical report stating there is no impediment to obtaining a firearm license; additionally, for those requesting a license to keep a firearm at the workplace:
e) Photocopy of the workplace opening and operating license (or, if not subject to such a license, the relevant documentation and the business/operational permit),
f) Letter from the tax office indicating tax liability status,
g) If the workplace belongs to a partnership or company, the management's decision and letter of consent regarding this matter.
How much are the permit fees?
License fees vary depending on the type of permit requested and the fee amounts determined by the Fees Law General Communiqué for the relevant year:
Firearm Licenses (5-Year Fees)
Possession Permit (Handgun/Rifled) : 60,147.00 TL
Carry Permit (Handgun/Rifled) : 187,941.00 TL
Smoothbore Shotgun License : 1,457.10 TL
License Card Fees :
Rifled Handgun : 1,750.00 TL
Smoothbore Handgun : 1,250.00 TL
Smoothbore Shotgun : 750.00 TL
